Do you need private lessons in order to improve your golf swing? The easy answer is: it certainly cannot hurt you. Choosing to take private lessons in any endeavor is a very private choice. Some people prefer to learn on their own, while others need the guidance of a gentle but firm instructor to really sharpen their skills. It is simply a matter of personal preference. A daylong or weekend long golf clinic can be a great way to get personal advice. And even though many golf clinics can be expensive (especially if a big name pro is teaching the clinic), it is, after all, only a one-time expense.
Why Private Instruction Works for Many Golfers
Although there is no written guarantee that private instruction will magically turn you into the new Tiger Woods, there is a very good chance that you private instruction will definitely improve your golf game. After all, in order for private instruction to be successful, it requires commitment and practice, which are both key to getting better. Also, private instruction can save you a lot of time. Many things about golf you will not know unless you practice constantly. Private instruction can help you save time if your instructor is capable of providing insights and short cuts that may have taken you months or even years to develop on your own. Moreover, with private golf instruction, you get the benefit of on-hands training. Your private instructor should be able to point out bad habits and help you break them.
What You Can’t Get From Private Golf Instruction
There are some things, however, that you simply cannot get from private golf instruction. These include commitment, passion, and hours of practice. These you will have to bring to the table on your own.
